Poco X7 Pro Review – Is It Still Relevant to “Poco Buy”?

Who is not familiar with the term “Poco Buy!” It has become popular since Poco started offering devices with flagship specifications but sold at affordable prices. But now in 2025 with many manufacturers offering various more attractive devices, is Poco still relevant? In this article I share my experience using the Poco X7 Pro after more than two weeks.

On the X7 Pro this time, Poco brings a different design from the regular X7 because the camera position is placed vertically. At a glance at the camera position of the Poco X7 Pro, it immediately reminds me of the iPhone 16. The black Poco X7 Pro in my hand uses two different color tones on its back panel. With this design concept, it makes the Poco X7 Pro look premium and expensive, but fingerprints or dirt are very easy to stick to due to the glossy finish.

The Poco X7 Pro uses a flatter and boxier design. There are voice control buttons and a power button on the left side of the device. On the top, there is an infrared sensor. The UBS-C charging port, speaker and SIM card slot are placed at the bottom of the device. Like most devices out there, the Poco X7 Pro also supports micro SD cards.

In terms of protection, the Poco X7 Pro is equipped with IP68 and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, but strangely the cheaper Poco X7 uses better durability, Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

SCREEN

With a flat screen on the Poco X7 Pro, it makes the experience of watching content on this device more satisfying. The combination of a 6.67” CrystalRes AMOLED screen, resolution up to 1.5K, refresh rate 120Hz, has HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support provides an excellent experience whether for social media use, watching movies or playing mobile games. The bezel on the screen of this device is also even.

With a maximum brightness of up to 3200 nits plus Sunlight mode, there is no issue using this device outside. There is also a fingerprint scanner under the screen with an optical sensor that is quite fast in its class.

PERFORMANCE AND BENCHMARKS

Among the factors that devices from Poco are very famous for is in terms of its internal performance. Powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra chipset, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM that can be expanded to 12GB of virtual memory and UFS 4.0 storage – this device is very smooth for everyday use.

For comparison, I chose the Dimensity 8350 (Oppo Reno13 Pro), Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 (Oneplus Nord 4) and Dimensity 9200+ (Vivo V40 Pro).

AnTuTu 3D

Poco X7 Pro – 1,590 533

Oppo Reno13 Pro – 1,150 560

OnePlus Nord 4 – 1,049,461

vivo V40 Pro – 1,524 100

Geekbench 6

Poco X7 Pro – 1575/6121

Oppo Reno13 Pro – 1319/4143

OnePlus Nord 4 – 1384/3932

vivo V40 Pro – 1798/5177

3DMark Wildlife Extreme

Poco X7 Pro – 3839

Oppo Reno13 Pro – 2880

OnePlus Nord 4 – 2713

vivo V40 Pro – 3824

Of course, the performance on the Poco X7 Pro does not disappoint, coupled with the WildBoost 3.0 feature, the experience of playing mobile games is very exciting. Heavy games like CarX Street can be played smoothly on medium to high settings. Games like MLBB can be played on the highest settings and can provide a very satisfying experience.

The issue of the device heating up seems to be not felt because during gaming sessions the device only becomes warm and the same situation when using its camera. With this kind of performance, the Poco X7 Pro will not cause any issues for daily use.

USER EXPERIENCE – HYPEROS 2.0

Poco X7 Pro is another device that runs the HyperOS 2.0 operating system based on Android 15. As a user who is using a device under Xiaomi for the first time, HyperOS is like a more cheerful and colorful ColorOS. Then from the point of view of someone who loves ColorOS 15 on Oppo Find X8 and a loyal user of Nothing OS on Nothing Phone (2a), it is quite annoying that HyperOS 2.0 on this device is full of ads and fat applications.

Although ads can be turned off and bloatware can be removed, it is a frustrating task for many users. Those who are less skilled will not realize that these applications and ads run in the background and can affect the performance and battery of the device. Hopefully, one day, the process of stopping these ads will be easier.

Anyway, the Poco X7 Pro also does not forget to offer various customization options. From the screen lock, Always-On Display, notifications and fingerprint scanner animations and more – all of them are interesting and can personalize the device according to your own taste. For a device in 2025, AI is a feature that cannot be forgotten and what is offered is acceptable and quite useful. However, the most interesting feature that we entrusted the best in 2024, which is Circle to Search, is still not on this device.

I have read many articles that the new version of MIUI is an operating system that many people do not like and HyperOS is Xiaomi's best iteration. As a first-time user of a product under the Xiaomi ecosystem, I feel that HyperOS is very smooth and it provides a satisfying experience. The Poco X7 Pro is also quite good for long-term use with 3+4 years of update support.

CAMERA

On the Poco X7 Pro this time it comes with a dual-camera setup on the back, namely a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor. Meanwhile, for the front camera, it uses a 20MP sensor. From the perspective of a Nothing Phone (2a) user, the dual-camera configuration is a good thing and I can take advantage of both sensors without having to worry about the absence of a third sensor which is usually a gimmick for competing devices in the same class.

The results of the images during the day look very good with very natural and sharp colors. In low-light environments such as at night, the images look less sharp and have a lot of noise. This time Poco still has the problem of the camera algorithm being less clever in the best settings according to the situation.

The image quality for the ultra-wide angle sensor is quite satisfactory. It has a wide angle of view and always looks neat and beautiful. However, due to the use of a low-class sensor, the details are difficult to appreciate. In short, the camera quality on the Poco X7 Pro is quite adequate for a device that is not very focused on photography. For video, until today Poco is still unable to offer video recording capabilities like Xiaomi or Redmi devices. It always has problems that result in something that does not suit your taste.

TELEPHONY, WIFI, GPS

The quality of phone calls and 4G/5G data connections on this device provide an experience like a real flagship device. However, for WiFi connections, this device often experiences connection disconnections at an annoying level. During the two weeks of use, I sacrificed a lot of my limited Internet quota. Strangely enough, the GPS issues that often occur on Poco devices do not occur on the X7 Pro.

BATTERY AND CHARGING

The battery capacity loaded in the Poco X7 Pro is 6000mAh. It is the largest amount loaded in a Poco X series device. With a battery that big, I have no problem getting SOT 7-8 hours of use throughout the day. In terms of charging, it also gets an improvement in terms of speed, which is 90W HyperCharge and takes less than 1 hour to fully charge from 0% to 100%. Importantly, the charger is still provided in the box with every purchase.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

1x Poco X7 Pro

1x USB-A to USB-C Cable

1x 90W HyperCharge Charger

1x Silicone Protective Case

1x Manual and Safety Book

CONCLUSION

In short, like most Poco devices before it, the Poco X7 Pro is one of those devices that focuses on very eye-catching specifications such as a beautiful screen, fast performance and excellent battery life. The lack of camera performance is not a big issue for Poco fans because they always accept and realize what they buy according to the price.

At a starting price of RM1,299 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, it is a very affordable price compared to other competitors that offer similar specifications. If you know how to turn off ads and remove bloated apps, believe me, this Poco X7 Pro will be your favorite device if you don't want to wait for the new generation Poco F series.
