AI Integration in Google Search Begins to Have a Negative Impact on Web Traffic

Google is ready to integrate artificial intelligence into their search engine, where it displays a summary or some information at the top of the search results page, before showing web links below. Although this is convenient for users, for web owners, it is beginning to have a negative impact.

According to a WSJ report, click traffic from Google search to content and news publisher websites has begun to decrease drastically compared to before the integration of AI in Google search.

Several companies have begun to think of other methods to generate traffic, and estimate that traffic from Google will be zero moving forward.

Google itself recently introduced AI Mode, bringing a display focused on artificial intelligence entirely. Although links are displayed at the end of a text, the probability of users clicking on them is lower than before.

In addition to Google, social media has also not prioritized link sharing, causing access to content publisher websites to decrease. This has led content publishers to look at alternative methods such as content licensing to train artificial intelligence models, etc.
