Framework is a brand of laptop manufacturers from the United States known for designing device chassis that can be modified according to the needs and preferences of their customers.
Recently, it has been reported that the laptop brand has introduced a laptop charging hardware that is capable of offering charging as high as 240W via a USB Type-C cable connection and uses battery cells with gallium nitride or GaN (Galium Nitride) technology.
For those who buy the Framework 16 laptop that comes with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card module, or want to upgrade the laptop's graphics card offering to that model, Framework has also opened pre-orders for the 240W charging device via USB, priced at $109.
The hardware consists of a GaN power block connected to a power plug cable, a USB Type-C cable with 5V-48V power supply support and a 2-meter USB Type-C 240W Power Delivery cable.
This allows users to get rid of the barrel jack plug that is typically used to supply electrical power, especially to laptops that use high-power components.
The purchase of the Framework 16 laptop previously already provided users with a 180W charger that is technically powerful enough to power both the latest AMD Radeon RX 7700S and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card modules, but Framework is now giving users the option to purchase this higher power supply option.
Framework further says that the NVIDIA graphics card module comes with this 240W charging plug, and says that it is up to the user's choice whether they want to use it or not.
