Today, October 14, 2025, support for Windows 10 has officially ended by Microsoft. PCs with Windows 10 can still be used as usual but will no longer receive any new feature updates or security patches.
Users with equipment that meets the minimum requirements are encouraged to upgrade the operating system to Windows 11 immediately. If your PC does not pass it, you are given the option to participate in Windows 10 ESU (Extended Security Updates) which provides security updates until October 13, 2026 only.
You have to pay $30 dollars or receive it for free by backing up files to OneDrive or redeeming it using 1000 Microsoft Points. All this can be done via Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Windows 10 support ends in October 2025 > Enroll now .
Microsoft's action to end support for Windows 10 has received criticism because around 41% of PCs in the world are still using the operating system that was launched more than 10 years ago.
