Samsung QuantumBlack Technology Reduces Light Reflection and Makes the Screen More Scratch-Resistant

OLED panels can display true black because the pixels are completely turned off. This technology has been used in smartphones for over a decade. This week, Samsung also announced QuantumBlack technology that further reduces light reflection on QD-OLED screens.

QuantumBlack reduces light reflection by 20% compared to previous film layers. Through this, the QD-OLED panel can maintain a matte black display even in bright environments. When playing media, the clarity of objects with the background can be seen along with their depth. In video games, it is compatible with FPS games because the enemy's body shape can be seen more clearly.

In addition, QuantumBlack increases the hardness of the screen surface from 2H to 3H, making it more scratch-resistant. Owners no longer have to worry about the screen being scratched when cleaning or moving the monitor. At the 3H standard, the screen can withstand being scratched by fingernails.

Among the manufacturers that will use QuantumBlack technology on their gaming monitors are ASUS using the Black Shield name, Gigabyte with Obsidian Shield and MSI with Dark Armor.
