Anthropic announced it has filed for a private IPO in the United States, weeks after SpaceX did. Both companies are racing to raise funds to expand their artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities through public offerings.
The company is valued at $965 billion, putting it ahead of OpenAI’s $852 billion valuation. Anthropic has not yet announced the value or amount of the offering. Through the private filing, the company’s financial information is currently confidential and can only be viewed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for review purposes.
The IPO is expected to be one of the most valuable listings for an AI company. Anthropic is believed to have filed for the IPO earlier than expected to take advantage of the high interest in AI companies’ shares and the company’s rising reputation with the introduction of Claude Mythos.
