China refuses to inspect Wuhan laboratory, scientists: began to suspect

WHO and some countries like the United States are asking China to allow the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) to be examined more intensively, to find out the origin of the Corona virus. But the Chinese government has rejected it. This disappoints some experts.

The reason is that investigations into WIV are considered important to obtain the necessary data and at the same time prevent outbreaks like Corona from recurring again in the future. Moreover, in the past, there have been outbreaks similar to SARS, albeit on a much smaller scale.

"We have two coronavirus pandemics originating in China and there are likely more than any other Corona pandemics from there. So China is our best chance to find out how (Corona) jumps from bat to human," said Peter Hotez, dean of the National School Tropical Medicine in Houston.

China’s rejection could also raise suspicion. "We can't do it without going to China. There's no way to know the essence from a distance," he added.

"I think what the WHO is asking for is very justified. This (rejection) would cause people to suspect this Corona virus was created by humans and released on purpose," said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Diseases Research.

As reported, China refused to inspect the Wuhan laboratory. Moreover, in the conclusions of preliminary WHO research held in China, Corona virus tends to originate in nature according to the consensus of most scientists.

"We will not accept a search plan that, in some respects, ignores common sense and goes against science," Zeng Yixin, deputy minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), told reporters.

“I would like to emphasize that WIV never designed, released or leaked the Corona virus,” said Yuan Zhiming, director of the National Biosafety Laboratory and professor of WIV.
