iPhone Hacked by Israeli Spyware, Here's Apple's Response

The iPhone which is known to be safe has been compromised by Pegasus surveillance software made by Israeli company NSO Group. Apple also responded to this unpleasant report.
As reported, the Apple -made phone is said to have been kneeled by Pegasus spyware. According to leaked Amnesty International data, tens of thousands of personal mobile phones are suspected to be targeted by NSO Group customers or governments that already own Pegasus. Part of it is the iPhone.

“The recent‘ zero click ’attack has been seen exploiting a fully patched iPhone 12 running iOS 14.6 in July 2021,” Amnesty International said. The attack was carried out through the iMessage messaging application.

“Our forensic analysis shows irrefutable evidence that through zero-click attacks on iMessage, NSO spyware successfully infected iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 models. Thousands of iPhones were potentially affected,” said Danna Ingleton, Amnesty Tech’s Deputy Director.

In response to this news, Apple condemned this type of attack. But on the other hand, they state that this attack is not a threat for the majority of iPhone users. Indeed, Pegasus is expensive spyware and can only be operated by certain circles for spying.

“For more than a decade, Apple has been leading mobile security innovation and as a result security researchers agree that the iPhone is the most secure mobile device on the market,” said Ivan Krstic, Apple’s head of Security Engineering and Architecture.

“Attacks as described are very sophisticated, require millions of dollars to develop, are often short -lived and used to target specific individuals,” he added.

"While that's not a threat to most iPhone users, we continue to work tirelessly to protect all of our users and continue to add new protections to their devices and data."
