China's action to suppress the entertainment world is apparently a direct direction from the China Cyberspace Administration (Cyberspace Administration of China / CAC). We saw from the official CAC website, Tuesday (7/9/2021) there are new rules since August 27, 2021.


The regulation is titled Notice on Further Strengthening the Control of Chaos in the "Rice Circle". It contains 10 rules to regulate the internet in China related to the world of entertainment.

Canceling artist ranking list

All celebrity artist ranking lists are cancelled. Music, film, TV rating lists are still allowed but identification of artist names is not allowed.

Ranking rule optimization and adjustment

For the ranking of music, movies, TV, etc., ratings through likes and comments are reduced. There should be no paid check-in function and the like. Fans should pay attention to the quality of culture and reduce the popularity of fans.

Strictly regulate artist management

Strengthen the responsibility of artist management companies on the website or online, clearly regulate issues of content, promotion, public relations and fan management. Celebrity related information is reduced.

Standardization of fan group accounts

Fan base accounts must get permission from the artist management. Unauthorized individual/organization accounts, may not join celebrity fan base accounts.

Ban the negative behavior of fans

Cleaning up fan groups that carry out verbal insults, stigma wars, rumors and inflaming opinions. Websites and platforms that fail to do so will be severely punished

Clean up illegal groups

Fan communities discussing fundraising, support, investment, reviews, gossip, breaking news will be disbanded. Fan groups discussing artist scandals, rankings and get-togethers will be closed. Fan groups that are naughty or potentially problematic will be blocked.

Can't encourage consumerism

Fan shopping data may not appear on the sales link, there must be no ranking of items that fans can buy, including no marketing activities that encourage fans to shop.

Online contest events are tightened

Variety shows or online talent contests are being tightened up. There is no pay-to-vote feature and prohibits shopping rules for contestants' votes

Strictly prohibit minor minors from being involved

Minors are prohibited from voting, prohibited from participating in artist group fan activities or online gatherings, must not interfere with study and rest time

Organize fundraising activities

Illegal fundraising activities will be eliminated, websites and platforms that do so will be punished including those involving children. Fundraising, voting and ranking websites outside of China will be investigated and investigated.
