In two days, November 1, 2021 to be exact, WhatsApp will no longer support a number of Android and iPhone cellphones, which makes the security of these cellphones threatened and not blocked from new features.
"WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones running OS 4.0.4 and earlier on November 1, 2021. Please switch to a supported device or save your chat history before that date," WhatsApp wrote on the Android FAQ page.
This policy was issued by WhatsApp so that they can focus on developing its features on newer devices.
WhatsApp also released a list of phones that are no longer supported starting November 1. Broadly speaking, these are phones running Android 4.0.3 or lower and iPhones with iOS 9 and below.
It should be noted, even though it is no longer supported, it does not mean that WhatsApp will stop working on the cellphone. You can still send messages, but they don't get the very important security updates. Not to mention the new features that provide an even better experience when messaging.
