Horror! Robot Dogs Are Now Armed, So Remember The Terminator

Four-legged robots or sometimes called dog robots are increasingly being used and helping human work. He is able to explore difficult places and carry heavy goods. However, there is a new ability that is considered disturbing, namely being installed with deadly firearms.

This armed robot dog is based on a dog robot called Vision 60 made by the United States company, Ghost Robotics. Well, the weapon was installed by a specialist company called Sword International.

The weapon system with the nickname SPUR or special purpose unmanned rifle in the robot includes a thermal camera with 30x optical zoom to shoot in dark surroundings. Then the effective range is 1.2 kilometers.

It is not yet clear whether this robot will be marketed to the public, but it could be in the near future. "The SWORD Defense Systems is the autonomous weapons system of the future," Sword International wrote on its website as a promotion.

The armed robot dog made its first appearance recently at the Association of the United States Army's 2021 arms show in Washington.

Robot Vision 60 itself has been tested by the United States military. Last year, an Air Force squadron in Florida became the first military unit to operate it routinely. It is used, among other things, to carry out patrols and explore locations that are difficult to reach or potentially dangerous to humans.

Now not only for patrols or investigation missions, robots have also been tried to be equipped with weapons. "Even though experts have been warning about the emergence of killer robots for a long time and the United States has not banned their development," said The Verge.

Armed robots are certainly a concern for many people. What we used to only see in the Terminator movies, has now become a reality!
