Snapdragon 898 Benchmark Hasn't Beat Apple A15 Bionic on iPhone 13

Ahead of the 2021 Snapdragon Tech Summit, which will be held from November 30 to December 1, Qualcomm's latest chipset benchmark scores were revealed. The results inscribed by Snapdragon 898 are quite high, but have not beaten the Apple A15 Bionic used in the iPhone 13.

According to leaker Ice Universe's tweet, the Geekbench 5 score of the Snapdragon 898 broke 1,200 in the single core test. While the multi-core results obtained a value of 3,900.

When compared to the released Snapdragon 888, the scores are quite far apart. In the single-core test, the value is 966, while the multi-core is 3,043.

The results achieved by Snapdragon 898 almost match the Apple A14 Bionic used on the iPhone 12. Testing with Geekbench 5 obtained a score of 1590 for single core, while multi-score was 3,959.

Meanwhile, when compared to the Apple A15 Bionic, the results are far adrift. The single core test value is 1702, for multi core it gets 4641.

The benchmark score of 898 may change as the chipset is optimized by Qualcomm and mobile phone vendors. So let's just wait for the performance of this chipset in the ranks of Android flagship phones released in 2022.

Snapdragon 898 itself is said to be made with 4nm fabrication and uses the latest design from Arm. This SoC has a tri-cluster architecture with the main core Cortex X2 running at 3.0 GHz. Then there are three Cortex-A710 cores working at 2.5 GHz and four Cortex-A510 power-saving cores working at 1.79 GHz.

The rumor also appeared that the Snapdragon 898 features an Adreno 730 GPU. In addition, it is embedded with an X65 5G modem that can deliver speeds of up to 10 Gpbs. This chip will also carry the latest ISP and NPU.
