The TikTok app is now expanding its presence on TV screens in a big way. After initially launching in North America on Amazon's Fire TV platform.
Now this application made by Bytedance is available on Samsung and LG smart TVs based on Android TV including Chromecast with Google TV.
TikTok says its large-screen software is optimized for the TV viewing experience at home, making it easy to watch content from the 'For You and Following' feed on a larger screen.
These include the most liked and viewed videos across categories, from games and comedy to food and animals. There is also a Find section in the TV app. TikTok videos can be up to three minutes long.
Outside of North America, TikTok has been available on Samsung TV and Fire TV in the UK since 2020. The app surpassed one billion monthly active users in September.
And on Android, it has reportedly surpassed YouTube for average watch time in the US.
