Apple is predicted to launch the third generation iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2022. If this prediction is correct, it is likely that this cheap iPhone will be released in March 2022.
This prediction was revealed by the analysis firm TrendForce. While it doesn't provide any additional information about the iPhone SE 3, TrendForce says the phone will support 5G networks.
"Apple remains with plans to release the third generation iPhone SE in 1Q22 and four models under the new series in 2H22," TrendForce said in its report, as quoted from 9to5Mac, Wednesday (1/12/2021).
"The third-generation iPhone SE is expected to be the main instrument in helping Apple to be present in the market segment for mid-range 5G phones. Its production volume for 2022 is estimated to reach 25-30 million units," he continued.
In the same report, TrendForce also predicts Apple's sales performance will increase in the year-end holiday season thanks to the iPhone 13. Even Apple is predicted to shift Samsung from the throne of the global mobile phone market leader in the next quarter.
Currently, Apple holds a market share of 15.9% in the third quarter of 2021. TrendForce estimates that Apple will overtake Samsung and become the world's largest mobile phone vendor in the fourth quarter with a market share of 23.2%.
Going back to the iPhone SE 3, previous rumors suggested that this phone will be supported by 5G and use the A15 Bionic chip, the same as that used by the iPhone 13 line.
The design itself will not change, still with a 4.7-inch screen, Touch ID button, and thicker bezels. Reportedly Apple is also preparing the iPhone SE Plus with a larger size, but it is not known whether the phone will be released next year.
