Xiaomi 12 will be the first cellphone to carry Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

 


Qualcomm has just launched its latest flagship chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. They also announced a list of mobile phone vendors that will use this latest chipset, one of which is Xiaomi.

Xiaomi then confirmed that its latest flagship phone, the Xiaomi 12, will be the first phone to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This was announced directly by Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun while speaking at the 2021 Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit event.


Jun did not reveal any other information about the Xiaomi 12, including its design and specifications. But he said this phone will be available in the near future.




It is not yet known when the Xiaomi 12 will be officially introduced, but Xiaomi must move quickly if it wants its phone to be the first to launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.


The reason is, Morotola has confirmed that it will launch the Moto Edge X30 flagship phone in China on December 9. This phone will also use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.


In Xiaomi's post on Twitter, the Chinese vendor also showed a teaser video confirming that the Xiaomi 12 had entered the mass production phase.




Apart from Xiaomi, other vendors that will launch phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 include Black Shark, Honor, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Vivo and ZTE, as quoted from Gizmochina, Wednesday (1/12/2021). ).


Interestingly the name Samsung is absent from this list. Even though the Samsung Galaxy S22, which reportedly launched in early 2022, is predicted to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in some areas.



Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is Qualcomm's first chipset made using 4nm fabrication. Its main core is Cortex-X2 running at 3.0GHz. Then there are three Cortex-A710 cores with a speed of 2.5 GHz, and four Cortex A510 cores with a speed of 1.8 GHz.


Qualcomm claims CPU performance has increased by 20% and is able to save 30% in power compared to Snapdragon 888. The chip company from San Diego promises a 30% increase in graphics and 25% power efficiency.
