Estimated Duration of Humans Surviving on 7 Other Planets Without Astronaut Suits

In our solar system, only Earth can humans live safely without having to wear an astronaut suit. If on the other 7 planets in the Milky Way Galaxy, how long can humans survive?

That question becomes a natural thing considering that some people are motivated to build colonization on other planets like what Elon Musk did. The CEO of SpaceX is adamant about building a civilization on the Red Planet, Mars.

To answer it, reported by Seeker, the following is an estimate:

1. Mercury

Closest to the Sun, but not the hottest. It is thought that Mercury has one side that is hot and the other that is frozen. Plus, the planet rotates very slowly where about 176 Earth days equals one night cycle on Mercury. Therefore, it is likely that you will only last about two minutes due to burning or freezing.

2. Venus

Because it is thick with carbon dioxide, the sun's heat is trapped and makes the surface of the planet Venus a temperature of 470 degrees Celsius. In less than a second, you may not be able to survive.

3. Mars

The dream home of Earth's future man, Mars, is not as beautiful as he imagined it to be if it is not supported by self-defense assistance. Martian silicate dust will begin to fill the lungs and in about two minutes, the low pressure of the Martian atmosphere will cause the organs to rupture. This can result in a quick but painful death.

4. Jupiter

It's beautiful to look at, but if it's for living... don't even try. So far it is known that Jupiter has no surface and its body consists of a cloud-like layer composed mostly of hydrogen and helium. The deeper you go into Jupiter, the higher the pressure and you'll be dead in less than a second.

5. Saturn

Saturn's rings have probably made you fantasize about what it would be like to fly up there and skate over them. Unfortunately, it's just a thing that fits into imagination. Like Jupiter, Saturn probably has no surface and is just a gas. That means, humans can only last a second there.

6. Uranus and Neptune

These two planets are arguably ice giants composed mostly of swirling liquid. There is also methane gas in the atmosphere, which would cause a person to suffocate if they tried to build life there. In addition to the toxic gases, the extreme temperatures on both planets will contribute to near-instant death.
