"If no updates are submitted for review within 30 days, the app will be removed from sale," Apple added.
However, applications that have been downloaded by the user will not be affected and will still be able to be used on the user's device. Apple's move will only impact users who haven't downloaded the app.
A number of developers have complained about Apple's action, one of which is Robert Kabwe, who is behind Protopop Games, the maker of the Motivoto game. In his complaint on the Twitter account @protopop, he compared games on the App Store with games on consoles that still exist even though they are old school.
"This is not fun. Console games from (year) 2000 are still available for purchase. This is an unfair obstacle for indie developers," he lamented.
Meanwhile, Apple has another statement on its App Store Improvements page. On that page they say they are implementing an application evaluation process.
