Elon Musk Doubts the Number of Fake Accounts, Twitter CEO Says This

Elon Musk delays the purchase of Twitter because of the problem of fake accounts which he suspected was more than Twitter's calculations. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal responded to Elon Musk's doubts. What did he say?

"Twitter deals are temporarily suspended, (there are) pending details for calculations that spam/fake accounts do represent less than 5% of users," Elon said in a tweet. In other words, the SpaceX and Tesla skipper didn't just believe Twitter's estimation.

As quoted by us from CNBC, Tuesday (17/5/2022) Parag stated that Twitter is constantly fighting fake accounts. The Twitter team is constantly updating its systems and rules to remove as much spam as possible, and its technology is able to identify real accounts.

Twitter says that spam or fake accounts account for less than 5% of all users. "This figure is based on reviews by people of thousands of accounts, with random and consistent samples from time to time," he explained.

"There are many very important details about this. We have shared the outline of the process with Elon a week ago and are ready to continue talking with him and also with you," added Parag.

Elon himself has just revealed plans against fake accounts on Twitter. "To find out, my team will do a random sample of 100 Twitter followers. I invite others to do the same process and see what they find," says Elon.

Elon Musk seems to be worried about this fake account problem. It's no secret that Twitter has become a place for various anonymous accounts to tweet, especially regarding politics such as the Indonesian presidential election and the US presidential election.

But in addition to the problem of fake accounts, many people also see Elon Musk will make Twitter more political with the discourse of returning Donald Trump's account which was closed by Twitter due to political provocations in the US Capitol Building riots. Moreover, Elon Musk admits that his political position tends to be pro-Republican.
