Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Released, Makes Android Phones Powerful to Compete with iPhone 13


 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is officially announced by Qualcomm. A number of improvements are given, making Android phones even more fierce so they can compete with the performance of the iPhone 13.

Snapdragon 8+ promises up to 10% faster speeds. Because the main Cortex-X2 core is now clocked at 3.2GHz compared to 3GHz in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.


This new chipset brings a 30% power efficiency increase in CPU as it uses 4nm process technology by TSMC compared to its predecessor made by Samsung.




Qualcomm promises 10% faster GPU performance. The company says that users can get up to 60 minutes of additional gameplay due to a 30% reduction in GPU power. Overall, the new chip promises 15% power savings in the SoC.


The 7th Generation Qualcomm AI Engine is embedded in this new SoC, promising up to 20% better performance per Watt to enable the use of AI for intuitive and challenging interactions such as the legendary Leica Leitz bokeh effect.



Regarding connections, the San Diego-based chipmaker still maintains the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 cellular connectivity system for Wi-Fi speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps, via Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.


Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will be available on flagship phones from leading brands, such as Asus ROG, Black Shark, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, OSOM, Realme, RedMagic, Redmi, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE. The device will be released from Q3 2022.
