Vulnerability On Huawei AppGallery Allows Paid Apps To Be Downloaded For Free

The majority of Android devices for the global market will definitely have GMS to use various Google services, including access to their app store - the Play Store. Even so, some device manufacturers, also still offer their own app store to reward users or to complement their ecosystem.

Typically, these standalone app stores use a different security system than Google. Makes there a lot of security and privacy issues.

Recently, a security vulnerability was discovered on the Huawei AppGallery app store. In the API on AppGallery, no protection is provided for paid applications. Due to that, the APK file of this application can only be downloaded and all premium feature access can be used without account login or doing any verification.

The main problem here is on the side of the developers, as their applications can be pirated. Huawei is reportedly already aware of this issue, but still no update has been made. For the time being, developers are advised to protect their apps with digital rights management or DRM such as AppGallery DRM so that paid apps cannot be cloned in AppGallery.
