MEASAT today launched its latest satellite into space, the MEASAT-3d. Through it, it offers a number of new communication technology support, and high -capacity data transfer capabilities.
Speaking at its launch, the CONNECTme satellite broadband service, which allows the internet to be transmitted from space, is now expected to be able to connect 100% of Malaysia's population-especially those in rural areas.
Today, there are about 3% -5% of the rural population who are still not covered by fiber or wireless broadband connections. With the availability of this satellite, it is expected to allow the connection to be enjoyed by them as well.
At the same time, the satellite is also expected to offer download speeds that are currently around 30Mbps via CONNECTme, to 100Mbps.
With better internet access, it is also expected to improve the socio -economy of the people, including the development of the digital economy arena in Malaysia.
