The Oppo Reno8 series was launched in China last May with three models, namely the Oppo Reno8, Reno8 Pro and Reno8 Pro+. Interestingly, the model with the highest specifications, the Oppo Reno8 Pro+, comes with the same chip used on the Oppo Find X5, the Marislicon X, and is also powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chip.
In a report from MySmartPrice, they found an Oppo device for the global market with model number CPH2357 listed on Geekbench with a 2.85GHz eight-core chip featuring a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, 12GB of RAM memory and running Android 12. The device has a benchmark score of 898 for one terrace and 3555 for multi-terrace.
Based on the chip and GPU specifications, it is clearly the Dimensity 8100 chip. Then the name of the device listed is the Oppo Reno8 Pro. This means, for the global market the Oppo Reno8 Pro+ will be rebranded as the Oppo Reno8 Pro. This chip in testing at our lab on the Realme GT Neo 3 device competes fiercely with devices with a Snapdragon 870 chip like on the Black Shark 5.
If it is the same device with another name, we can expect that the screen to be used is a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+, powered by Dimensity 8100-Max with MariSilicon X, 12GB of RAM memory and 256GB of internal storage.
The camera is 50MP + 8MP + 2MP with a 32MP selfie camera. The battery is 4500mAh with a SuperVOOC 80W charging equivalent to the Oppo Find X5, and uses a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and OnePlus 10 Pro.
In China, the device is priced at RMB2,999 for 12/256 GB which is around RM1972. The Oppo Reno7 Pro in Malaysia was previously priced at RM2,999 for the same storage variation. With these premium specifications and design, we can expect that the Reno8 Pro in Malaysia may be priced more or less the same.
