The Leica camera has its own value with its name also famous among photography enthusiasts. After collaborating with Huawei, Leica is increasingly known for their cameras that are synonymous with high picture quality and have their own characteristics. At the 40th Leitz Photographica Auction, a Leica 0-Series was successfully auctioned for € 14.4 million (~ RM 66.7 million) making it the most expensive camera in the world.
A total of 23 Leica 0-Series units were once produced in 1923 and it is believed only about 12 still exist. The 0-Series was released in small quantities to see if there was a demand for Leica cameras. Only then was the Leica A-Series officially released for the open market.
The auction value achieved is almost five times higher than the original valuation. Apart from being the earliest camera from Leica, this camera was also owned by Oskar Barnack who is also the founder of the company. Because of this, it is now the most expensive camera in the world.
