What parent would not be proud to see their child become the richest person in the world and lead two giant companies. But the truth is, Elon Musk's father admits he's not proud of his son.
In an interview on radio show The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Errol Musk was asked if he was proud of Elon's achievements.
"No. You know, we are a family that has been doing a lot for a long time, it's not as if we suddenly started doing something," Errol said, as quoted by The Guardian, Tuesday (2/8/2022) .
Errol later admitted that the achievements of Elon, who currently serves as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, had surpassed his brothers. Elon himself has two younger brothers, namely Kimbal and Tosca.
"They've seen a lot of things, and we've done a lot together," Errol said of his family referring to his family's trips to China, the Amazon rainforest, and others.
"But Elon has really crossed the target," he continued.
Errol continues to discuss his son's life, and says that Elon feels left behind when it comes to the progress of his company. The 76-year-old also feels his son is not as happy as he would like it to be.
"He's frustrated with progress and that's understandable," Errol said.
"I know it sounds weird, but we tend to think of it that way as a family. He's 50 now and I still think of him as a kid. But he's 50, I mean that's old."
Compared to Elon, Errol said he was more proud of Kimbal, his second child whom he called the 'pride and joy' of his life. Kimbal himself works as a chef and restaurant owner with an estimated net worth of USD 700 million.
