Two New Insta360 Cameras Coming to the Market

Two new Insta360 cameras were brought to the market. There's the Insta360 ONE RS 1-Inch 360 Edition action camera and the Insta360 Sphere for DJI drones.

Both cameras that have 360 lenses are specifically designed for users who want to improve the quality of their videos and photos.

The Insta360 ONE RS 1-Inch 360 Edition premiered globally last June. In presenting this camera, Insta360 collaborated with Leica.

This camera comes with a thicker 360 lens module supported by two 1 inch CMOS sensors, and it is capable of capturing at higher resolutions - up to 6K for 360 video, or up to 21 megapixels for 360 photos. This will guarantee improved image quality, especially in low light.

Different from the regular One RS kit, with both the new 4K Boost Lens and the regular 360 Lens, the Insta360 ONE RS 1-Inch 360 Edition uses a vertical assembly to accommodate the larger lens module size. Arranged from top to bottom: lens, core with touchscreen, and vertical battery.

This camera also brings an onboard FlowState Stabilization feature which is claimed to be faster than the version in the application, and action sports video recording. The video has a resolution of 5888x2944 pixels at 30 fps, there is also a frame rate of up to 50 fps in a resolution of 3040x1520 pixels, and can save photos in Raw (DNG) format.

Regarding battery life, it can be used for up to 62 minutes to record 6K @ 30fps video. Because the core and battery are embedded into the body frame, this device has an IPX3 certificate. So it's safe to use when it's raining or snowing.

Storage relies on a microSD card. While connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi (802.11ac).

The Insta360 Sphere, which was announced last May, is specifically designed to be mounted on drones. Currently the drone is compatible with the DJI Mavic Air 2 and 2S, allowing it to capture 360-degree video content.

This camera system is claimed to not affect the GPS signal or remote control when the drone is flying. In fact, it will not affect the flying duration of the drone.

Sphere has a built-in stabilization system, which Insta360 calls FlowState. The company says it's fine-tuned to ensure stable aerial footage regardless of the conditions.

This camera can operate for 48 minutes in 5.7K resolution and can take photos or videos. Charges from empty to full in about 100 minutes via a USB-C connection.
