Xiaomi has today launched their own augmented reality (AR) glasses under the Mijia brand. These glasses are called Mijia AR Glass, which has its own screen, camera, processing chip and will be sold to the public.
This is in contrast to other brands such as Oppo whose sales are limited, or just prototypes. This Mijia AR Glass has a 0.23-inch, 328ppi Micro OLED screen from Sony that can reach 300 nits of brightness and is guaranteed to be visible under sunlight. This screen will display augmented reality content through freeform lighting technology.
Mijia AR Glass is also loaded with a 50MP wide-angle f/1.8 camera system with EIS, an 8MP periscope f/3.4 camera with 5x optical zoom support and OIS. This camera will also be used to track the user's hand movements for camera control and AR systems through gesture control.
These glasses are also powered by an undisclosed eight-core Snapdragon chip and Xiao AI support for a live translation system. These glasses also have a 1020mAh battery and 32GB of storage.
Xiaomi will raise funds for these glasses products through a co-financing program. The initial selling price is RMB2499 and the general sale is RMB2699 which is around RM1780. It is among the most affordable prices for a product like this.
