Google is expected to come up with a new, more affordable Chromecawst with Googe TV. It is a new smart TV dongle which is limited to streaming at FHD resolution rate only.
Recently, Kuba Wojciechowski an independent developer recently found the code in Android 12 for TV that this dongle will be generated with a slightly less powerful chip which is Amlogic S805X2 CPU but supports AV1 codec and also uses 1.5GB RAM memory. Kuba also found the name of this product in the code, which is Chromecast HD.
Furthermore, with Android 13 for TV requires at least 2GB of RAM – Chromecast HD will remain with Android 12 version only. For WiFi, it uses the NXP 88W8987 chip for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 support. The code also reveals the same remote control as the original dongle.
The sales price of Chromecast HD is expected to be sold at around RM180. Google is expected to sell this dongle on October 6 next when the Pixel 7 is launched.
