Netflix Stops Sharing Free Passwords, A Number of Countries Get Called First

Netflix already plans to prohibit users from sharing passwords if they are not at home. This is implemented in several countries. Indonesia hit?

Guidelines for preventing the sharing of these passwords are on the Netflix Help Center page and tested in several Latin American countries. The 'victims' are Chile, Costa Rica and Peru.

Netflix spokesperson Kumiko Hidaka said this information had spread to other countries' aid centers. However, he emphasized that this new policy was only tested in the 3 Latin American countries.

Netflix's new step is to launch a paid password sharing feature. Through such password sharing programs, users have to pay more for additional users located outside the home.

Hidaka explained that password sharing services with special rates were officially implemented in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru in March 2023. The United States and other countries will follow later.

Reporting from CNN, Saturday (4/2/2023) later only people in the house can use one Netflix subscription.

"Users must be connected to WiFi at your primary location, open the Netflix app or website and watch something at least once every 31 days on your device," Netflix explained on its official blog.
