Discord Lays Off Hundreds of Employees

Discord has reportedly laid off up to 17% of its workforce across various departments and teams. The amount is estimated to be equivalent to 170 employees and the notification was informed through an internal memo of the company.

The founder and CEO of Discord, Jason Citron in a statement said, the decision is part of Discord's efforts to improve its efficiency. He added that the company needs to increase its focus and improve the way it collaborates internally. But did not further share any plans for specific strategies that will be implemented later.

All of the laid-off workers were given compensation that included five months' salary and access to health services until the end of the year. However, it is understood that the termination is not the first time it has happened. In fact, it has been made since August last year involving 4% of the laid off workforce.
