BYD Seal has officially been launched in Malaysia making it the third model of their EV to be offered in our country. The launch of the Seal is indeed awaited by many because it is a vehicle seen as a competitor to the Tesla Model 3 due to almost comparable specifications.
For the local market, two models are offered, namely BYD Seal Performance AWD and BYD Seal Premium. Based on the name you can definitely guess that the Performance AWD model is the most prominent because it is equipped with a dual motor that offers 530 horse power with 670NM torque. Through the battery capacity of 82.5kWh, Seal Performance AWD has a travel distance of up to 580km NEDC. The charging supported is up to 150kW DC which provides 10-80% charging in less than 40 minutes.
The BYD Seal Premium model is simply equipped with a motor that offers 313 horse power with 360NM torque. The battery capacity is the same which is 82.5kWh with 150KW DC charging but the travel distance increases to be able to travel up to 650km NEDC.
In Malaysia, BYD Performance AWD is sold at a price of RM199,800 while BYD Premium is sold at a price of RM179,800. For the first 800 buyers, BYD is giving away a free wall charger and RM800 free charging credit via Gentari or ChargEV.
