Apple has been using emojis by Unicode since iOS 5. Although Unicode has set the code and meaning of emoji, the design is free for device manufacturers. For example, from Apple, the shoe emoji took inspiration from the New Balance 574 that the late Steve Jobs often wore. Most recently, this running shoe emoji has been made into a real shoe.
This shoe was designed by artist and designer Jose Wong from China. It is named Shoe 1, it combines materials such as cowhide leather uppers, breathable fabric, midsole and soles made of EVA. This shoe also takes the New Balance 574 as inspiration but many designs are based on Apple emojis.
The outer part of the shoe such as the rubber part on the sole is made of 5% recycled materials and on the midsole there is a design of the interior of the iPhone. The shoe box is also designed to look like an official Apple product. Jose Wong offers a choice of sizes from 5-12 and these shoes are sold for $219.90 which is around RM978.
