France Targets 100 Billion Euro Investment for AI Technology Development in the Country

Last month, OpenAI announced the Stargate Project, a giant data center project that will cost up to $500 billion and several years through collaboration with several companies.

Recently, France also seems to be doing something similar, where the country's Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron, said that private companies will spend 109 billion Euros over several years to develop artificial intelligence technologies in the country.

He said this when opening the AI Action Summit event that will take place in Paris this week. Not much was said about what AI projects will be developed in the country, but in terms of investment money, several names were mentioned by him.

Canadian investment company Brookfield will reportedly invest 20 billion Euros, while the United Arab Emirates is said to invest 50 billion Euros over the next few years.

Both investments are expected to be used to build AI data centers, which will include the development of a data center that will consume 1 gigawatt of electrical power. Interestingly, the European region is currently facing issues with sufficient power supply to power these giant data centers, so some of the investment may also go towards developing the electrical infrastructure for these data centers.
