Apple to Bear $900 Million Cost Increase Due to Tariffs – Products to Be Imported from India and Vietnam

Apple announced its latest financial report yesterday with revenue increasing by 5%. However, for the next quarter, tariffs are expected to increase costs by up to $900 million (~RM 3.88 billion). Among the measures that Apple will take, according to Tim Cook, is that half of the iPhones for the US market will be imported from India. But due to high demand for iPhones for the US market, the other half of the inventory still needs to be imported from China.

For other products, all will be imported from Vietnam. At this time, the price increase has not yet been announced, but it may happen in just a few months if the Trump administration does not withdraw the high tariff rates announced in early April.

Sony and Microsoft, for example, have started raising the prices of consoles because the impact of tariffs has begun to be felt. Although the United States is the one imposing high tariffs, the impact of the cost increase will be felt by everyone.
