Google Confirms Android and Chrome OS Will Be Merged

Google will merge the Android and Chrome OS operating systems in the future. This was confirmed by the President of the Android ecosystem, Sameer Samat, in an interview with Techradar. Samat said. This move is seen as Google's effort to finally give competition to the iPad.

Although Google has been developing a special operating system for tablets since Android Honeycomb fourteen years ago, the development of special features for Android tablets has been quite slow to the point that it seems like Google is taking it for granted.

The synergy between Android and Chrome OS has been seen since 2016 through Andromeda OS. Last June, Google said that Chrome OS would be developed with an Android overlay to facilitate various AI features supported on the operating system. This year, Android 16 officially has desktop mode support after being developed separately by manufacturers such as Samsung DeX.

It's time for Android and Chrome OS to be merged into one operating system since Apple itself has standardized the interface of all their operating systems and iPadOS now borrows various macOS features.
