Microsoft 365 on Windows 10 Will Not Receive New Features After August 2026

In May, Microsoft announced that support for Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 computers would be extended to October 2028. But today, Microsoft confirmed that no new features would be provided after August 2026. The apps will stop at version 2608 and after August 2026, the software will only receive security patch support.

This is another effort by Microsoft to get users to move to Windows 11. Support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. Update support will only be extended for another year if data is backed up to the cloud using Windows Backup.

Although the operating system is approaching the end of its life, at the beginning of this month, global Windows 11 operating system users were at 51.77% compared to Windows 10 at 45.02%. Microsoft says that more than 1 billion computers in the world use the Windows operating system. This means that there are still hundreds of millions of PCs still with Windows 10.
