U Mobile has expanded its Ultra5G network coverage to Putrajaya and Kota Kinabalu after successfully conducting initial trials at Berjaya Times Square. The move aims to strengthen 5G coverage in more areas, giving users the opportunity to experience the network speed in conjunction with Merdeka Day and Sabah Day celebrations on 31 August 2025.
U Mobile has implemented the Ultra5G network in Kota Kinabalu in collaboration with ZTE and Celcom Timur Sabah. For now, details on the implementation in Putrajaya have not been revealed. Among the new locations identified in Kota Kinabalu are Padang Bandaran and Karamunsing Shopping Complex.
A company representative informed that users can enjoy 5G connectivity around Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman which includes the coastal area between Tanjung Aru Beach and Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal. In Putrajaya, the Ultra5G network covers the entire length of Persiaran Perdana from Affin Bank to Wisma Tani. Users can identify their Ultra5G connection by the network name ‘UM ULTRA5G’ displayed on their devices.
U Mobile also plans to continue expanding coverage in Putrajaya and Kota Kinabalu and is scheduling launches in new areas in the near future.
