Honor has officially launched the Magic V5 for the Malaysian market. The device comes with flagship-class specifications with a main focus on a thin and light foldable design. It is also thinner than its predecessor, the Magic V3, to provide a more convenient user experience.
The Magic V5 comes with a thickness of 8.8mm when folded and 4.1mm when fully unfolded. This thickness also varies according to the color variant, which is 8.8mm (folded) for Ivory White while Dawn Gold, Silk Brown and Black have a thickness of 4.2mm (opened) and 9mm (folded) respectively. The weight of the device also varies slightly with 217g for Ivory White and 222g for the other three color variants. In addition, the Magic V5 is equipped with an IP58 and IP59 rating for protection against water and dust ingress.
The Magic V5 offers two OLED screens, a 7.95-inch main screen with a resolution of 2352 x 2172 pixels on the inside while the outer screen measures 6.43 inches with a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels. Both displays support a 120Hz (LTPO) refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 5000 nits. The display also supports the use of a stylus and is protected by the HONOR Super Armored Inner Screen and HONOR Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for added durability.
The device is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Magic V5 runs the MagicOS 9 operating system based on Android 15 and is equipped with a stereo audio system with 24-bit stereo HDR microphone support. It also supports the AI Privacy Call feature to ensure clearer and safer private calls.
Among the smart features offered include Gemini Assistant, Gemini Live Camera and Screen Sharing, AI Writing Tools, AI Translate, AI Call Translation, Magic Portal and AI Deepfake Detection. Additional features such as Three Split Screen, Parallel Space and Magic Capsule are also available to enhance efficiency and ease of use. The device is also equipped with the HONOR C1+ RF chip that enables smoother file transfer between Android and iOS devices including iPhone and Mac.
It is equipped with a 50MP (f/1.6) rear camera system with OIS, a 64MP periscope telephoto (f/2.5), and a 50MP ultra-wide (f/2.0). The AI imaging system supports intelligent features such as AI Enhanced Portrait, AI Super Zoom and AI Motion Sensing Capture for clearer visual results. For image and video editing, the device offers AI Editor with functions such as AI Image to Video, AI Outpainting, AI Eraser, AI Upscale, AI Cutout and Live Photo.
The device is powered by a 5820mAh silicon carbon battery with the HONOR E2 chip to support energy efficiency. It also supports fast charging via Honor SuperCharge with a rate of 66W wired and 50W wireless. The Magic V5 is offered at a retail price of RM6999 in Malaysia.
