NVIDIA Will Return to Selling H20 AI Chips to China

NVIDIA will apparently be allowed to sell its NVIDIA H20 AI chips to the Chinese market after the US government lifted a decision to block all NVIDIA AI chips from being sold to technology companies in the country.

The NVIDIA H20 AI chip is specifically developed for the Chinese market based on the NVIDIA H100 AI inference chip, which is built using the company's new Hopper processor. The H20 model was built to comply with US government directives that limited the AI inference capabilities of components sold to Chinese companies.

However, in the middle of this year, US President Donald Trump announced that he did not want NVIDIA to sell any AI components to companies in the country, and has banned their sale.

Now, NVIDIA has issued a statement saying that they will start selling these H20 AI chips to the Chinese market again soon, after Donald Trump announced that he would lift the trade restrictions.

This year, NVIDIA has received orders for NVIDIA H20 chips worth $18 billion from companies like Tencent, Alibaba and ByteDance, all of which are looking to further enhance their AI capabilities with new technologies.
