We have previously reported that the demand for memory components from the AI sector has caused the price of DDR5 memory to increase very sharply, and the manufacturer Micron will also close the Crucial consumer memory brand by February 2026 to focus on the production of such components for the data center and AI sectors.
Recently, Transcend, a brand of storage devices and accessories, has said that the company is also facing problems obtaining NAND chip components from manufacturers such as Samsung and SanDisk that are needed for hardware such as SD cards, SSD storage and pendrive accessories because these companies will sell the components to the highest bidder, which is usually the data center and AI component development company.
In fact, the purchase cost of these NAND storage components has increased by 50-100 percent in the past few weeks, and this is expected to cause the selling price of flash storage to increase almost as much as what is happening with RAM memory in the future.
In fact, supplies of storage components and accessories from Transcend are also said to be reduced for the next 3 to 5 months due to the supply issue. According to a Digitimes report, Transcend has not received new NAND chips since October 2025, and it is not yet known when they will receive new supplies.
