Apple has acquired MotionVFX, a firm that produces plugins, templates, and special effects for Final Cut Pro, Motion, and DaVinci Resolve. All 70 employees of MotionVFX are now joining Apple as part of the acquisition.
MotionVFX was founded in 2009 by Szymon Masiak and is based in Warsaw, Poland. The value of the acquisition by Apple was not disclosed, nor was it clear whether MotionVFX would continue to be offered in DaVinci Resolve software after this.
This year Apple announced the Creator Studio subscription plan that offers access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage software for RM29.90 per month. With the acquisition of MotionVFX, Apple is making their products more attractive as an alternative to creative software from Adobe and Affinity.
