Oppo and OnePlus announced that they will increase the selling prices of their devices in China starting March 16. The prices of Oppo and OnePlus devices that have increased are the A and K series, which are usually sold at more affordable prices. The Find and Reno series devices will still be maintained in China.
The two companies did not give a reason why the selling prices of the devices had to be increased. But since last year, the prices of memory and storage chips have risen sharply due to high demand from the data center sector. Limited supplies and chip manufacturers focusing on industrial customers have caused the selling prices of devices to increase this year.
The increase in device prices is expected to cause production to decrease by 13% according to an IDC report. Meanwhile, PC manufacturers have also warned that they cannot absorb the cost increase of up to 30%.
