Miniature images or thumbnails are used as bait for viewers to watch uploaded to YouTube. There are various techniques used such as a large MrBeast-style gaping face, minimalist images with only one object and AI images that are completely different from the video content. So far, the size of miniature images has been limited to 2MB but last weekend it was increased to 50MB.
According to YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, large-sized images will have a higher resolution when viewed on TV. The era of thumbnail images that look a bit blurry or broken when viewed on a TV screen is now over. The feature has been enabled for all YouTube Creators today.
YouTube has added various new features that content producers can use such as comment summaries and placing ads in the most appropriate places using the help of AI. At the same time, they also introduced the less popular feature of 30-second non-skippable ads for YouTube TV users last week.
