Yesterday, Meta launched two new smart glasses for prescription lenses in collaboration with Ray-Ban. For those who are less interested in the Ray-Ban Meta design aesthetic, this morning a report from Mark Gurman in Bloomberg said Nothing is currently developing its first smart glasses.
These smart glasses will use artificial intelligence (AI) technology and are also equipped with a built-in camera, microphone and speaker. AI processing will be done in the cloud via tethering to a smartphone. Development is still underway and Nothing is believed to only launch these smart glasses in H1 2027.
Nothing's entry into the smart glasses arena is certainly interesting because of their unique and innovative product designs. The majority of them look more futuristic with transparent elements and lighting systems that are not found in other companies' products.
This year is expected to be the year of smart glasses with Google, Samsung and Apple predicted to launch their products in just a few months.
