Samsung Denies Allegations of Using Dua Lipa's Image Without Permission

Recently, the issue of an image lawsuit by famous singer Dua Lipa against Samsung has arisen. This case has attracted attention because it involves the artist's image rights and the shared responsibility between technology companies and content partners in the global digital media ecosystem.

The case began when her image was used in 2025 to depict third-party partner content available on Samsung televisions. The image was originally provided by a content partner for the free streaming service Samsung TV Plus.

The lawsuit claims that Samsung has been using an image of Dua Lipa's face on television packaging boxes since last year without permission. The singer's legal team also stated that the company refused to stop using the image despite being asked to do so and insisted that the image was taken backstage at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024 and that the singer owned the copyright.

However, the latest development shows that Samsung has denied the allegations by insisting that the image was only used after receiving strong assurances from the partner that permission had been given, including for the television retail box. The company rejects the accusation of intentional misuse because it relies entirely on the assurances provided by the content partner.

Samsung also stressed that it respects Dua Lipa and the intellectual property rights of all artists, and expressed its willingness to work positively with the singer's team to find a fair solution. While Samsung has denied any wrongdoing, this case highlights the importance of transparency in copyright agreements and the protection of artists' images in the global digital media ecosystem.
