More interesting news about the Apple M chip was reported by Mark Gurman on Bloomberg this morning. According to him, the Apple M6 will not be offered in M6 Pro and M6 Ultra versions with higher performance. According to him, this is because Apple is focusing on improving the NPU in the M7 series. This improvement is more important than the development of the M6 Pro and M6 Ultra.
In the same report, Apple is predicted to launch the MacBook Pro M6 by the end of this year. Then the Mac with the M7 chip will be launched in early 2027 while the M7 Pro and M7 Max will be launched in late 2027. The Mac with the most powerful M7 Ultra chip will then be launched in 2028 with a memory option of up to 1.5TB. All of this is still in the planning stage because the RAM crisis has caused limited memory supply.
Powerful chips with large memory sizes are needed to offer high artificial intelligence (AI) processing capabilities in the near future. In addition to being offered to customers, Apple will use the M7 Ultra in its own AI browser to support various Apple Intelligence features in the future.
