Xbox Reportedly Starts Testing Xbox One Game Disc Digitization Feature

Last week, we reported that Xbox would be testing a physical video game digitization feature by transferring the licensing of the games to a digital version called Positron.

It was reported that physical Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One games would receive support for the feature. Once converted to digital, they would be accessible in the store just like any other digital game. They would then be accessible on Xbox consoles, consoles, PCs, or streamed using cloud services.

Brad Rossetti, head of the Xbox Insider program, recently announced that a major update would be rolling out to Xbox Insider program users next week. No additional details were announced about the update, but many are speculating that it would be related to the Positron feature.

If true, users would soon get to see how this feature works, allowing owners of Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One video game discs to play those games digitally. Unfortunately, this feature also seems to only be offered for those two console series, and not on the Xbox 360 and original Xbox.
