Google Now Makes It Easier to Load Generative AI-Created Apps via the Play Store

For those involved in app development—or utilizing generative AI tools to build apps—testing on actual devices used to be a cumbersome process; it required changing device settings and manually sideloading the app onto an Android device before testing could begin.

Recognizing this challenge, Google is now streamlining the process. You can use Google AI Studio to build or generate your Android apps, publish them to a private app library, and access them directly through Google Play.

Currently, this feature is available to users in the United States and select markets, with a broader rollout expected soon.

Users do not need a formal developer account to use this method; a personal account suffices. Google has also announced plans to introduce a feature allowing users to share these private libraries with family members and close friends.

This move could lead to a surge in apps created by the general public for personal use, effectively democratizing both app development and usage.
