Minister of Communications, Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, has stated that Malaysia is currently exploring opportunities for collaboration with Netflix, specifically regarding film post-production activities. This initiative is also intended to position Malaysia as a destination for a wide range of post-production services within the creative industry.
Such a move would indirectly boost local employment opportunities in the creative sector, encompassing areas like editing, color grading, and other post-production tasks.
The Minister of Communications shared these details following a meeting with representatives from Netflix. The discussions focused primarily on the creative economy—often referred to as the "orange economy"—within the film and animation sectors. Furthermore, the talks covered potential collaborations in co-productions, talent development, the creation of documentaries, and efforts to bring Malaysian content to the international market via the Netflix platform.
