YouTube is currently exploring the integration of an audiobook feature into its platform, potentially as early as 2027. To this end, YouTube—owned by Google—has begun engaging with various book publishers to incorporate their offerings directly into the YouTube platform.
This move would position YouTube as a competitor to Spotify, which has also been expanding its audiobook offerings, as well as to Amazon-owned Audible.
It is expected that YouTube will integrate this audiobook support into its existing YouTube Premium subscription service. However, the full details of the implementation remain unknown. Currently, Spotify manages access by imposing a limit on the number of hours users can spend listening to audiobooks, with additional charges required for extended access.
