Apple Uses Samsung Galaxy S21 to Advertise Its Products

Apple rarely talks about its competitors, except in the context of promoting one of its products. Therefore, Apple's move to feature the Samsung Galaxy S21 in its latest product ad is surprising.
The Galaxy S21 appears in an ad for wireless earbuds or TWS Beats Studio Buds on Amazon. The decision to feature a Samsung phone in the ad makes a lot of sense considering the Beats Studio Buds are TWS that can be used by iOS and Android devices.

But the selection of the Galaxy S21 is quite surprising given that Apple often features older Android phones in its promotional materials or presentations for later comparisons with the latest iPhones.

For example, at the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event, Apple announced that FaceTime is now accessible on Android phones. But in their presentation, they featured the iPhone 12 paired with an anonymous Android phone that had thick bezels.

Additionally, in the Beats app for Android available on the Play Store, Apple features the Nexus 6P, which is the phone of 2015. Meanwhile, in the Move to iOS app for Android, the company created by Steve Jobs pairs the HTC One M8 with the iPhone X, as quoted from Phone Arena, Monday (5/7/2021).

The old Android phones featured in Apple's promotional materials certainly look dated when compared to the latest iPhones. Therefore, the selection of the Galaxy S21 which is the latest flagship phone from Samsung is quite surprising.

Although this ad is intended to convey that the Beats Studio Buds can also be used on Android phones, Apple still inserts a message urging Android users to switch to iPhones.

At the bottom of the poster there is an explanation saying that Android users can access Beats Studio Buds features through the Beats app. Further, Apple says that these features can be accessed without apps on iOS and users can also access Siri.

So in one ad, Apple is trying to get Android users to buy Beats Studio Buds. Having entered the Apple ecosystem, it is easier for Android users to be tempted to switch to iPhone.
